Microsoft is finally releasing the much-hyped feature i.e. 3D model support in PowerPoint 2016, Word 2016, Excel 2016 and Outlook 2016 for Windows Desktop.

Previously available to Office Insiders on the Fast ring, the feature is now being rolled out Slow Ring Insiders starting in Version 1707 Build 8326.2076.

You can work with 3D models either in PowerPoint 2016 or Word 2016 (and etc. ).

To drop a 3D model on to your presentation, for instance, you should be looking at the Insert tab where you’ll immediately notice a new button to insert a 3D model. (see pic below).

3D models not only increase the visual appeal of your work but they are there are to create an everlasting impact of your documents, presentations, and reports.

You can easily change the perspective of 3D material giving it a spin in full 360 degrees.

Moreover, Morph transitions (cinematic animations between slides) add life to your presentations conveying those minor details in style and precision.

Here is a video that puts all this in action.

You can also try inserting your creations you build in Paint 3D or bring up models from the Remix 3D community etc.

Under Format tab, you will find the new 3D Model Tools button. (see pic below)

This gives you additional functionality like Pan & Zoom to focus on a particular component of the model. There is also 3D Model Views to snap the model to specific views.
