If you are an avid radio listener who owns a Windows Phone device, and listens to All India Radio bulletins each time they are aired, then I present to you an awesome app which will certainly make your listening experience more fun and engaging — News On AIR.
News On AIR is the best application for your Windows/Windows Phone device which presents audio news bulletins in English, Hindi, Urdu and all other Indian languages relayed by All India Radio News Division on National, and local radio channels.
The application supports Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1 as well as Windows Phone 8.
UI is minimalistic with swiping left and right will take you to take different interests of TOP NEWS, NATIONAL. STATES, INTERNATIONAL, BUSINESS, SPORTS, BULLETINS.
Within BULLETINS, there are a variety of different options to choose from. So, if for example you prefer listening to news in Hindi, hit the Hindi option and it will pull up alternatives like Samachar Prabhat, Dopahar Samachar etc.
Once you make a choice, on the next screen it will begin playing the news in a simple audio player with options for sharing and downloading the audio, for playing back later. Overall, I have found the app quite clean for the functionality it boasts to deliver.
The app also has the ability to read-out loud text for certain news articles, while for some it simply opens up a web page in the browser.
You do not however get any settings menu to control the download quality of audio etc.
This app will certainly not fill the gap caused with Microsoft dropping support for the FM RADIO app on Windows Phone, leaving users to rely on third party apps, but at least this is a nice addition to the Windows Store.
