How to customize Night Light in Windows 10 Creators Update

Windows 10 Creators Update is the current major release of Microsoft’s latest and greatest operating system Windows 10. Starting today, Microsoft will be rolling out the update for users around the world (in waves) to more than 400 million PCs running Windows 10 as the operating system.

With Windows 10 Creators Update comes a lot of cool new features and little feature additions that, if not on a major scale, enhance your productivity and daily workflow. While everybody is talking about 3D and Virtual reality to native game streaming via Beam, there is a nice new little feature which can greatly help if you are someone who likes to work on a computer during late night hours and at the same time wants to protect his/her eyes from blue light emission from the display or in other words, reduce it.

To help you sleep better at night, after you finish up your work, Microsoft has introduced Night Light Settings in the Windows 10 Creators Update release.

To get to these settings:

  1. Press Win + I to open Windows Settings
  2. Click on System
  3. Click on Display and then from the right pane, click on Night Light Settings

Once you are on the screen as shown above, click on Turn on now button. Once turned on, you will quickly notice the screen filled with a warmer yellow color.

You can play with the intensity of the warmer colors by sliding the color temperature slider and make your adjustment.

During daytime, this may not be as useful as during evening or night times, so for this reason it is better to schedule it, so that the effects are automatically applied at the preferred times.

For scheduling, flip the schedule toggle to ON position and you can either let the system make a choice for you between sunset and sunrise or you can manually enter the work hours by selecting Set hours radio button option, for which you think it will benefit.

Do let us know what you think of the feature in the comments below.
