Microsoft is planning to include a new OneDrive flyout menu for Windows 10 PC. With Windows 10 Build 14986, it some insiders reported about the availability of the feature but it seems the company didn’t let everyone to try it out.

Thankfully, the folks over at insidewindows.net have come up with a simple registry tweak that will enable the feature on Fast Ring Build 14986.

Please be warned, registry edit can cause serious instability to your system, so proceed with caution. If you are not comfortable with these tweaks, simply let it go. It is always recommended to wait for the feature to arrive officially.

There are actually two ways to get the feature activated. Firstly, you can simply download this file TeamSyncSitePreview.reg from Microsoft’s servers. Make sure to save it as a .reg file, and not a .reg.txt file. After saving,  double click on it to merge it into the Registry.

Secondly, you can make use of the registry editor which will be a manual process, of course and often time consuming.

Steps to enable the new OneDrive flyout (Build 14986)

  1. Make sure you’re on OneDrive version 17.3.6720.1207 or newer. If you’re not up to date, click here to download it from Microsoft’s servers.
  2. Press Windows + R and type in regedit to open the Registry Editor.
  3. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\OneDrive.
  4. Right click on an empty space and navigate to New -> DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  5. Name it TeamSiteSyncPreview.
  6. Now double click on the DWORD you just created and set its value to 1.

After you have completed all of the above steps, upon clicking on the OneDrive icon in the taskbar, you should see the new flyout (as shown in picture above).

Give it try, and let us know what you think!
