Hotfix for Windows, those unaware, is as the name suggests, Microsoft’s way of fixing some critical issues on Windows aimed mainly at Administrators. With the release of Windows 10, Microsoft now provides cumulative updates which are meant to fix those critical issues which in turn means that Hotfix is no longer needed. According to Ghacks, it is exactly the case as Microsoft is shutting down Hotfix service for Windows.

The Hotfix service is no longer available. Instead you can find your fix or patch by upgrading to the latest update available for your product.

You can also obtain Microsoft drivers, software updates, and other support files by downloading them from the Microsoft Catalog, the Microsoft Download Center, or upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 10 contains the most up-to-date security and other features built right in.

Although we have yet to hear from the horse’s mouth, this looks like a strategic move. Nevertheless, as Microsoft now have an alternative solution to this, it is not going hurt anyone.
