Microsoft no longer wants you to use Internet Explorer

Microsoft has a past with web browsers and as you might know, the company is not proud of that. Microsoft’s cybersecurity expert Chris Jackson in a recent blog post explained why users should move on to other modern browsers.

Calling Internet Explorer a ‘compatibility solution’, Chris made a revelation about the notorious browser. He admitted that Microsoft had stopped new web standards for Microsoft Edge and a good number of developers aren’t currently testing for Internet Explorer. The cybersecurity expert further warns saying that businesses that are still using Internet Explorer usually end up paying extra to get support for old software. However, Chris also made it clear that even though it stopped supporting the new web standards, a good number of if not all existing websites should work just fine on Internet Explorer.

We’re not supporting new web standards for it and, while many sites work fine, developers by and large just aren’t testing for Internet Explorer these days. They’re testing on modern browsers

The revelation isn’t surprising, not at least in 2019, the company just announced that it would be bidding goodbye to its own EdgeHTML engine in favor of Chromium which will soon be used as a backbone to the Microsoft Edge browser. Abandoning EdgeHTML coupled with urging people to get rid of the IE speaks volumes of the failure of Microsoft in web technologies.

So, there you have it. Microsoft itself clears the air and wants you to call it a quit.
