Microsoft to bring a major Windows 11 Taskbar missing feature back

While promising to evolve Windows experience to the next level with Windows 11, Microsoft also removed or depreciated many Windows 10 features. One of the most criticized area of the Windows 11 experience or lack of that is related to the new Taskbar. Microsoft took many Windows 10 Taskbar features away in Windows 11 and users didn’t shy away from weighing in by providing feedback to Microsoft.

One of the Taskbar features that Microsoft did away in Windows 11 was “Dragging & Dropping of files on apps icons in Taskbar to open them in the app”.

It was possible in Windows 10 to drag and drop a file on apps icons in Taskbar to open them in the app. Windows 11 has removed this feature but users want this feature back and it is again one of the most requested feature to be added back to Windows 11.

Now, it seems that Microsoft is planning to bring this feature back. The undocked Taskbar already supports dragging and dropping of file to open them in an app.

Check the short video below to see this in action. So, it seems Microsoft will bring this feature back in a future build, though the October release of Windows 11 will probably miss this.
