The Surface Hub 2 which was announced back in May this year, now has a little twist in the tale. As promised by Microsoft the Surface Hub 2 will start to ship in Q2 2019 but instead of going with what was originally shown in the launch video, the company decided to come up with two versions of Surface Hub 2 – The Surface Hub 2S and the Surface Hub 2X.
The Surface 2S is the one which will start to ship in Q2 2019 and won’t have the ability to tile, rotate, and multiuser log in. The device is more or less the same in terms of the ability to do things but now comes with great mobility, offers lighter, thinner, and more vibrant design. Surface Hub 2X on the other side will ship with all the cool features that are missing in the Surface Hub 2S and will start to ship sometime in 2020. The Surface Hub 2S customers nevertheless would be able to upgrade their existing hardware and turn their Surface Hub 2S into a cool Surface Hub 2X.
This simple update is enabled by our design of removable processor cartridges, in an easily accessible hardware chassis on the back of the Surface Hub 2. This processor cartridge can be removed, upgraded and serviced over time. The cartridge is what will enable customers to make the switch to the Microsoft 365 powered Surface Hub 2X in 2020.
We are not really sure at the moment, what Microsoft really meant by ‘Update’. Well, it will surely be a hardware update but is there anything with the software? We will update as we get to know more information about the product.
