Microsoft: Windows 11 Home edition users won’t be able to defer feature updates

Windows 11, the next big Windows OS iteration is targeted at October 2021 release. It will have many editions similar to Windows 10. The most common Windows 11 editions have been listed by Microsoft on the servicing timeline page.

Microsoft also has revealed an important information about the Windows 11 Home edition on this page. As per the information shared by Microsoft, home edition does not support the deferral of feature updates.

This eventually means that Microsoft will force update PCs running Windows 11 Home to a new version of Windows 11. This will happen if the installed 11 version has reached end of support. The force update will happen prior to the end-of-servicing date shown.

What is the servicing timeline for a version (feature update) of Windows 11?

New versions of Windows 11 will be released once per year. Customers should always install the latest version before the current version reaches end of servicing to remain supported by Microsoft.
