PC shipments increases globally, Lenovo tops the list with highest number of PC shipments

PC sales remain flat according to the recent data released by Gartner. It increases 0.1 percent from the third quarter of the of 2017, which is certainly not a huge jump. Interestingly, the sales were declined in the USA market despite Microsoft’s push in new category devices like Surface Pro. On the other hand, Asia, EMEA saw a positive growth in PC sales from the last quarter of 2017.

That being said, Lenovo still dominates when it comes to selling the maximum number of PCs with 15,889 global shipments. Lenovo is followed by HP, Dell, Apple, Acer, and Asus. The sales in the USA market is slightly different than what we have just talked about. HP sells the maximum number of PCs with a market share of 30.7 percent in the USA followed by Dell, Lenovo, Apple, and Microsoft. With that Microsoft for the first time ever makes its entry into the top five list.

The overall PC shipments declined 0.4 percent compared with the third quarter of 2017 in the USA. In Asia a total of 24.3 million unit sold and if we do the math it is a 0.3 percent increase from the third quarter of 2017. Gartner also reports that the growth was only due to growth in business PCs, not the consumer. One important point to note here is that all the above data from Gartner does not include Chromebooks and iPADs.
