The now unsupported Windows Phone 8.0 platform still has some users left, as we can really see in Adduplex stats for Windows Phone devices. But since Microsoft has announced Windows Phone 8.0 / 8.1 devices support end on July 11, it is no surpriseĀ major developers like WhatsApp will do the same.

WhatsApp after killing Windows Phone 7 support in the beginning of 2017 has now announced the end of support for Windows Phone 8.0 devices by end of 2017. In its FAQ for support forĀ older operating systems, it mentions below timelines for the end of support.

You won’t be able to use WhatsApp on the following platforms for:

  • Nokia Symbian S60 after June 30, 2017
  • BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 after December 31, 2017
  • Windows Phone 8.0 and older after December 31, 2017
  • Nokia S40 after December 31, 2018
  • Android versions 2.3.7 and older after February 1, 2020

What’s is even worse is that some features may stop functioning at any time since WhatsApp will no longer actively develop for these platforms.
