Microsoft recently introduced Build 15042 on Windows 10 PCs for Insiders on the Fast Ring. The newly build packed some new features along with a number of fixes, changes and improvements as well. We have already summed up the changelog on this page.
After installing the build 15042 on our machine and using it for about two days, we came across a new setting under Settings >> System >> Apps & features. As you can pretty much observe from the screen grab above, it puts you in control of how apps or where apps can be installed from.
If you set it to “Allow apps from the store only”, then it can cause issues when trying to install a Win32 app or an *.exe file, since this is the default setting unless reworked. See image below.
This is kinda weird since most of the users, I guess, deal with Win32 apps on their Windows PC and even if Microsoft wants to restrict users to store only apps, they should clearly state it and not make any user feel under powered.
The recently released insider builds did not bring any major feature to the table and as we reported, Microsoft is set to release Creators Update for Windows 10 starting in March-April 2017.
