Windows 10 version 21H2 update: Release Date

As per our sources, Windows 10 version 21H2 update may RTM in July/August 2021. This will be followed by a public release in September/October 2021 via cumulative update and enablement package route.

Windows 10 version 21H2 update new features:

Brand-new Start menu layout swappable with the classic Start menu:

Microsoft is working on a brand-new Start menu layout for Windows 10 version 21H2 aka Sun Valley update. The existing classic menu will also exist and user would be able to swap between these two menus using a toggle.

The new layout doesn’t have a hamburger menu. It also places the user icon/name, shutdown controls, and File Explorer shortcuts along the bottom of the UI. There’s an “all apps” button at the top right that takes you to a separate apps list view.

Now, both the brand-new redesigned Start menu and the ability to swap between classic and this new layout are one of the biggest changes that Microsoft may have planned for Windows 10 in quite some time.

New Multitasking (Snap) features including Aero shake toggle:

Microsoft will bring new multitasking aka Windows Snap features including “Aero Shake” toggle. Leaked images reveal the options related to these upcoming multitasking features present in Windows 10 21H2 code.

Options related to new Windows 10 21H1 multitasking features have been found by Microsoft enthusiast Albacore. He has posted screenshots of settings that include Aero Shake toggle, Snap further away from screen edge option and two mystery checkboxes for new Snap features.

Albacore has also revealed that these mystery boxes may revolve around “Snap-based task groups”. It may be related to 1) Drag windows to the sides or corners of your screen and they’ll automatically size to fit perfectly, side by side; 2) “When choosing what to snap, show Microsoft Edge tabs on their own page, Snap Microsoft Edge tabs.

Coming to the Aero Shake toggle here is what the feature does. If you toggle the Aero shake on and grab a Windows’s title bar and shake it, it will minimize all other windows.

New Copy-paste feature & Bluetooth improvements:

Microsoft has brought a neat and useful feature with the latest Windows 10 21H2 preview build. The build brings a new copy-paste feature with itself. It allows one to paste what you copied as “plain text”.

For using this feature simply open your clipboard history by using WIN + V. Now, click the three-dot button next to any text-based entry. You can now see a “Paste as plain text” option alongside other two options.

This new copy-paste option pastes the text content without its original formatting (font, color, size etc.). The pasted text then matches the formatting of the destination document. Quite useful, right?

A new Bluetooth improvement that enhances the user experience has been done too. The notification you get while pairing supported Bluetooth devices stays on the screen a little longer now. It gives you the chance to interact with it before it goes away.
