We previously reported that Windows 11 insider build is still referred as 21H2 update by Microsoft. Now, Microsoft has officially confirmed that Windows 11 will be released with version naming similar to Windows 10. So, Windows 10 version 21H2 will be the first one to get released late in 2021.
While the official Microsoft documentation has enough references to Windows 11 version 21H2, this has been confirmed by a Microsoft employee on Twitter.
So, as Brandon has confirmed on Twitter both Windows 11 and Windows 11 will received respective 21H2 updates late in 2021. Though Windows 10 version 21H2 is not expected to pack anything significant given Microsoft’s focus on Windows 11.
Since, Windows 11 feature updates will be released only once a year, it seems 22H2 will be the version to be released in 2022 and so on. Incidentally, we had reported via a now updated official documentation that Windows 10 version 22H2 is codenamed “Copper”.
