Windows 10

Windows 10 comes with a lot of personalisation options and it has significantly improved over time giving users more control on however they want their PC to please their eyes and this applies to start menu, taskbar etc. too. This article may be an old hat to some of you, but still do you know can set or change the transparency and color for your Taskbar, Start menu and Action Center on Windows 10 PC ?

To get started, we will go through all possible outcomes and then you decide which one seems perfect for you.

  1. Launch the settings app by pressing Win Key + I
  2. From there, go to Personalisation.
  3. Click on Colors from the list on the left.
  4. Pick an accent color of your choice.

Show color on title bar

Scroll down and slide the ‘show color on title bar’ toggle button to ON position. When you do this, you will notice the settings app title has got some nice color on it, depending upon what accent you chose earlier. If you want to set the title bar to show black or no color, simply toggle the switch to OFF position.

Show color on Start, taskbar and action center

To display a color on start, taskbar and action center, slide the ‘Show color on Start, taskbar and action center’ toggle button to ON position. Open start, and you will see a background accent color. And, the taskbar plus the action center has the same solid accent color on them. Again, if you want to set a black or no color, slide the button to OFF. Now, it is time to apply some transparency.

Make Start, taskbar and action center transparent

To do so, flip the ‘Make Start, taskbar and action center transparent’ toggle button to ON position and that’s it. Your Start menu, taskbar as well as the action center is now transparent.

You can even try to mix and match the options above, and try to find a perfect match for your daily workflow.

One more thing, if you want Windows to automatically set a color based on the desktop background, simply tick the checkbox saying ‘Automatically pick an accent color from my background’. With Windows 10 Creators Update, you will be able to set a custom accent color, and for that you have wait till April 11 of this month.

I hope these little things might help you to make your PC feel more personal.
