Anthropic is making Claude more capable as a workplace assistant with a new “Record a Skill” feature for Claude Cowork. Instead of manually explaining a workflow, users can simply record their screen while completing a task and describe what they’re doing. Claude then converts that demonstration into a reusable skill it can perform again in the future.
The feature represents another step toward AI assistants that learn directly from user demonstrations, reducing the need to repeatedly explain the same processes.
Teach Claude by Recording Your Workflow
The new capability is designed to make training Claude as simple as possible.
Users can:
- Start a screen recording
- Perform a task as they normally would
- Narrate each step while working
- Let Claude analyze the recording and create a reusable skill
Once saved, Claude can use that learned workflow to help automate similar tasks later.
Rather than writing detailed prompts or documentation, users can simply show Claude how the work is done.
Available in the Claude Desktop App
The feature is built directly into the Claude desktop app.
To access it:
- Open the + menu
- Select Record a Skill
- Record your screen while completing a workflow
- Save the generated skill for future use
This streamlined process makes it easier to build a library of custom skills tailored to individual or team workflows.
Built for Productivity
The new feature could be useful across a wide range of everyday tasks, including:
- Repetitive office workflows
- Internal business processes
- Software demonstrations
- Data entry procedures
- Research workflows
- Customer support tasks
Instead of repeating the same instructions, users can teach Claude once and reuse the skill whenever needed.
Available on Paid Plans
The Record a Skill feature is rolling out to users on the following Claude subscriptions:
- Claude Pro
- Claude Max
- Claude Team
At launch, the feature is available through the Claude desktop application.
Claude Continues Expanding Agentic AI
The addition of reusable skills further expands Claude Cowork’s capabilities as Anthropic continues investing in AI agents that can understand, learn, and execute complex workflows.
By allowing users to teach Claude through real-world demonstrations instead of written prompts, the company is moving toward a more natural way of interacting with AI—one where assistants can learn by observing how work gets done.
