Today at E3 Microsoft has talked about a lot of areas which will shape the company’s future and will play a crucial role in becoming ‘The Netflix of Gaming.’ Microsoft is doubling its gaming efforts with investment in some key areas which includes the formation of a brand new studio, The initiative and plans for several acquisitions. Microsoft is also doubling its gaming development studios by adding five new creative teams to the Microsoft Studio family.

“There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the gaming industry, with creators large and small showcasing incredible new games for the more than two billion players around the world,” said Phil Spencer, head of Gaming at Microsoft.

A new studio, The initiative:
The initiative is a brand new Microsoft studio for game development headed by Darrell Gallagher that is working to create groundbreaking new worlds, characters and game experiences. The initiative will be based in Santa Monica, California.

Besides A new studio, Microsoft has acquired Playground games and is planning to acquire Ninja Theory, Undead Labs and Compulsion Games.

We are thrilled to welcome five new studios into the Microsoft family. We believe these teams have the collective creative power and operational excellence to deliver the next industry game changers.”
