Microsoft: Windows 10 on 500 million devices, Cortana being used by 140 million users

Windows 10

Microsoft today announced that Windows 10 is now running on 500 million monthly active devices. This announcement comes on the very first day of Microsoft’s developer event “Build 2017”. The 500 million figure includes Windows 10 installed on PCs, tablets, and phones, Xbox One consoles, HoloLens and Surface Hub devices.

While the number may sound impressive to a layman, Microsoft is still only half way to its stated target of 1 Billion Windows 10 devices. We earlier opined how a focus on Mobile can help immensely in achieving that target.

Apart from 500 million active Windows 10 devices, CEO Satya Nadella also mentioned that Cortana is now being used by 140 million users.

Microsoft had announced by the end of September 2016 that the number of monthly active devices running Windows 10 increased to 400 million. From 400 million to 500 million Windows 10 active devices took around Eight months it seems.
