Microsoft has now applied a hold on some Intel PCs after an issue with some intel storage drives have come into its notice. It seems that Intel PCs with Intel RST driver version between 18.104.22.1682 and 22.214.171.1243 installed may run into incompatibility issues.
Intel and Microsoft have found incompatibility issues with certain versions of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology (Intel RST) drivers and the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Windows 10, version 1903).To safeguard your update experience, we have applied a compatibility hold on devices with Intel RST driver version between 126.96.36.1992 and 188.8.131.523 installed from being offered Windows 10, version 1903 or Windows Server, version 1903 until the driver has been updated.
Microsoft has informed that Intel RST driver version 184.108.40.2064 or higher is compatible with Windows 10 May 2019 Update.
Versions 220.127.116.114 or later are compatible, and a device that has these drivers installed can install the Windows 10 May 2019 Update. For affected devices, the recommended version is 18.104.22.1684.
Affected users can check with device manufacturers for a compatible version of Intel drivers or can directly download it from Intel’s site.
Check with your device manufacturer (OEM) to see if an updated driver is available and install it. You can also download the latest Intel RST drivers directly from Intel at Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) User Interface and Driver. Once your drivers are updated, you can restart the installation process for the May 2019 Update.
