Microsoft is continuing to refine Windows 11 through its Insider testing program, and the latest experimental update brings a mix of small but noticeable changes to some familiar Windows tools.
The update focuses on File Explorer Home, Magnifier, and Print Management. While two of the changes improve the everyday Windows experience, Microsoft is temporarily pulling its redesigned Print Management interface from Insider builds to give it more time in development.

File Explorer Home Will Remember Your Layout
File Explorer is getting a small quality-of-life improvement that could make browsing files feel more consistent.
The Home section in File Explorer will now remember the state of its sections. If you expand or collapse a section, Windows 11 will preserve that choice instead of resetting the layout.
That means users can arrange File Explorer Home the way they prefer and return to the same setup later.
It may sound like a minor change, but these small interface improvements can make a difference for people who use File Explorer throughout the day.
Rather than repeatedly expanding sections they need or collapsing sections they don’t use, users can simply pick up where they left off.
Magnifier Gets a Windows 11 Design Refresh
Microsoft is also giving the Magnifier toolbar a visual makeover.
The accessibility tool is receiving updated icons that better match the current Windows 11 design language. Microsoft has also refined the toolbar’s spacing and padding, giving the interface a cleaner and more consistent appearance.
Importantly, Microsoft isn’t changing how Magnifier actually works.
The existing views, zoom controls, keyboard shortcuts and Read Aloud features will continue to work as before. In other words, this is primarily a visual refresh rather than a functional overhaul.
For users who rely on Magnifier, the familiar controls should remain intact while the toolbar gets a more modern appearance.
Microsoft Is Temporarily Removing the New Print Management Experience
The biggest change involving Print Management is actually a temporary step backward.
Microsoft says it is temporarily removing the modernized Print Management experience from Windows Insider Preview builds while the company continues refining it based on feedback.
This does not mean Print Management is being removed from Windows 11.
The existing Print Management tools remain available and are unaffected. Users who rely on the current tools can continue using them normally.
Microsoft says the updated Print Management experience will return to Windows Insiders in a future build after additional improvements have been completed.
The move highlights how Microsoft’s Insider program is being used to test major interface changes, collect feedback and make adjustments before wider availability.
What These Changes Mean for Windows 11 Users
The three changes are quite different, but they share a common theme: Microsoft is continuing to polish Windows 11’s built-in tools.
File Explorer is becoming a little more convenient by remembering how users organize sections on its Home page. Magnifier is getting a cleaner Windows 11-style interface without changing its core functionality. Meanwhile, Print Management is being temporarily pulled back for further refinement.
None of these changes represents a dramatic Windows 11 overhaul, but they show Microsoft continuing to fine-tune the operating system based on Insider feedback.
For now, the most visible improvements are likely to be the new Magnifier design and File Explorer’s ability to remember the user’s preferred layout, while Print Management users will have to wait a little longer for the redesigned experience to return.
