Microsoft is rolling out Copilot Vision — a new AI feature that lets Windows PCs “see” what’s on your screen and help you directly based on that visual context. It’s part of Microsoft’s broader plan to make Windows more intelligent and interactive through AI, and it’s being integrated into the Copilot app on Windows.

Here’s everything Windows users should know about how Copilot Vision works and which devices support it 👇

🤖 What Is Copilot Vision?

Copilot Vision is an extension of Microsoft’s AI assistant that lets it analyze and understand your screen content when you choose to share it. Unlike a regular chatbot, Copilot Vision can see what you are doing — inside apps, web pages, or the whole desktop — and give real-time insights, explanations, and step-by-step help.

It’s like a smart second set of eyes that can:

  • Help you overcome confusing menus or settings

  • Explain what’s on your screen

  • Provide visual guidance for tasks

  • Answer questions based on your active windows

This functionality is opt-in only — Copilot Vision only “sees” what you actively share during a session.

🧠 How Copilot Vision Works in Windows

🔸 Turn on Vision from the Copilot App

To start a Vision session:

  1. Open the Copilot app on Windows.

  2. Click the glasses icon in the Copilot composer toolbar.

  3. Choose the app window or desktop content you want to share.

  4. Ask Copilot questions or get guided help based on what’s shown.

Copilot Vision will focus only on the apps or windows you select — not your entire screen unless you choose “Desktop Share.”

📈 New Vision Features Rolling Out

Microsoft has already expanded Copilot Vision for Windows Insiders (early testers):

  • Two-app support — share content from two apps at once so Copilot can compare or assist across both.

  • Highlights — Copilot can visually point out where to click inside an app to accomplish a task you ask for.

  • Text-input support — you can now type questions directly to Copilot Vision instead of using only voice.

These make Copilot Vision more interactive and useful than earlier versions.

💻 Supported Devices & Availability

Windows Versions

Copilot Vision is available through the Copilot app on Windows, and Microsoft has confirmed availability for:

  • Windows 10 (in supported regions)

  • Windows 11 PCs with the Copilot app installed

Vision is currently rolling out gradually — first to some regions (like the U.S.) and to Windows Insider participants before wider release.

Copilot+ PCs (AI-Enhanced Hardware)

Some advanced Copilot AI features may work especially well on Copilot+ PCs, which are Windows machines with enhanced AI support hardware (like NPUs — Neural Processing Units). These devices can provide more powerful local AI experiences, though Vision itself works on a broader range of Windows PCs.

🔍 What Copilot Vision Can Do

When activated, Copilot Vision can:

  • Analyze apps and content on your screen

  • Explain visual information

  • Give step-by-step guidance

  • Help with productivity tasks

  • Assist with creative tools or documents

This changes how you interact with Windows — from static task bars and menus to a smart assistant that understands context visually.

🔒 Privacy & User Control

Copilot Vision only sees what you choose to share and cannot operate in the background or “spy” on your screen without permission. Once a Vision session ends, no visual data is continually processed.
Microsoft logs only responses for safety and compliance, not your actual screenshots or visuals.

📌 Why This Matters

Copilot Vision transforms AI in Windows from text-based suggestions into context-aware visual support — making your PC feel more like a true assistant that can adapt to what you see and do in real time.

Expect this technology to become a core part of Windows AI experiences, especially as Microsoft expands Copilot features across devices and regions.
