Many Windows 10 PC users are having a bad time with the latest security patches for Windows 10 May 2019 update. The cumulative update KB4512508 not only is failing to install for many but also is leaving PCs in a bad state after installation, if it manages to happen finally.
Some are reporting that their Windows 10 PC is asking for multiple restarts after installation of the update and the message persists even after many restarts. For some, the update is deleting user-made junctions and symbolic links as complained in the official forum.
Some are simply getting Error 0x80073701 when trying to install the update which doesn’t happen and others are getting Error 0x80070017 after the update has progressed to 50%.
This is not for the first time that cumulative updates from Microsoft have caused issues for end-users. This is a worrying trend for sure and Microsoft needs to ensure that the quality control team does a better job before updates are released to public.
