Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit can convert Chrome extensions to run on Microsoft Edge

When Microsoft Edge first got the ability to load extensions, we had hoped that at some point in time Microsoft Edge will support Chrome Extensions. This was based on a observation that Chrome browser was able to run Microsoft Edge extensions with minimal change, so vice-versa should be true too.

Now, Microsoft has made it or is planning to make it very easy to bring Chrome Extensions to Microsoft Edge. Microsoft Edge Extension Toolkit has appeared in Windows store and it allows to convert a Chrome extension to run on Microsoft Edge in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (14393.10) edition, as per the app description.

This toolkit allows developer to convert a Chrome extension to run on Microsoft Edge in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (14393.10) edition. The tool creates the necessary JSON manifest entries and bridges the chrome.* APIs to the browser.* APIs supported on Microsoft Edge, polyfiling where necessary.
