It looks like Microsoft might be quietly preparing a visual refresh for its AI assistant. In the latest Microsoft Edge Canary build, users spotted a brand-new Copilot icon—only for Microsoft to quickly remove it in a subsequent update, strongly hinting that its appearance was an accidental preview.
However, Edge Canary isn’t the only place this new design has popped up.
Tech observer @minto494 shared an image on X showing the exact same redesigned Copilot icon appearing inside Microsoft 365. Seeing the identical emblem surface across two distinct parts of the ecosystem is a clear indication that Microsoft is laying the groundwork for a unified, cross-app Copilot branding strategy.
Why the Leak Matters
1. The Edge Canary Rollback
In preview builds like Edge Canary, experimental features and UI flags are constantly being tested behind the scenes. When a newly added icon is abruptly removed within a release cycle without an official announcement, it usually points to an internal feature flag being toggled on prematurely.

Microsoft has been steadily moving toward a cohesive visual language for its AI-driven features across Windows, Edge, and Microsoft 365 apps.
