Microsoft’s WDG Media Team is working on an app that will enable Dolby Atmos surround sound from any Windows 10 device featuring Dolby Headphone. The app can be installed on PC running Creators update Build 14961 and higher. It is not available for Mobile devices as of now.

Experience up to 7.1 channels of personal surround sound from any pair of headphones from an A/V receiver, game headset, and PC that features Dolby Headphone.

Nokia and later Microsoft has been packing the high-end Lumias with Dolby Audio features including Dolby DTS and Headphone. Lumia 950 / 950 XL were bit of exceptions, as their specifications don’t mention Dolby specifically.

Anyways good to see Microsoft working to enable Dolby’s latest Audio Technology “Dolby Atmos” for Windows 10 devices. The app doesn’t do anything for now even after getting installed on Windows 10 PC devices.

The app was not found in the store. 🙁
