Microsoft is working to improve Windows 11 File explorer and multitasking experience. The updated experience may arrive with Windows 11 Sun Valley 2 update, the annual major update for Windows 11 in 2022.
The latest insider build has improved search from quick access in File explorer. It now includes content from your OneDrive, Downloads, and any indexed location. The files shared from OneDrive to quick access now show thumbnails and work with OneDrive sharing.
The improved multitasking in Windows 11 now includes Microsoft Edge tabs in snap assist. When a windows is snapped, three most recent Edge tabs are now shown as suggestions. One can also control whether to include Microsoft Edge tabs in multitasking via settings.
- Search from Quick Access has been expanded to include content from your OneDrive, Downloads, and any indexed location. Use Quick Access to find results fast.
- Files in Quick Access without any local presence (for example, files shared to you from another OneDrive) now show thumbnails and work with OneDrive sharing.
- We’ve made it even easier to snap the most relevant windows next to each other side by side by introducing Microsoft Edge tabs as suggested windows in snap assist. When a window is snapped, you will now see 3 of your most recent Edge tabs shown (by default) as suggestions. You can always control whether to show Microsoft Edge tabs and number of tabs shown when snapping or pressing ALT + TAB via Settings > System > Multitasking.
The Windows 11 update destined to come out this year will be the version 22H2. As per a new report this update will bring much-desired and currently missing Taskbar features back. It may also bring system-wide Dark mode and many other new features and UI changes.
