Microsoft has been long rumored to hold a Spring Hardware event that may see new hardware announcements in Surface Category. Surface Book 2 and Surface Pro 5 are major highlights of these oft-heard rumors.
But if the recent report from well-known Microsoft watcher Mary Jo Foley has to be taken into account, we may see neither of these two getting launched at this Spring Hardware event.
As per the report posted at ZDNet,
Recently, however, I’ve heard from a couple of contacts that Surface Book 2 is not going to be announced here, as I mentioned during a recent episode of the Windows Weekly podcast. I’m not sure whether Surface Pro 5 will debut at the still-unannounced Spring hardware launch either.
So, what may actually be the major hardware focus at a hardware event where none of the rumored flagship devices will be launched. It seems a new Surface Category may be unveiled altogether. Surface Clamshell Laptop that may be called “Cloud Books” or something of that sort may be launched during this Spring event.
Microsoft is supposed to officially launch Windows 10 Cloud Edition, that has leaked already. This Surface Clamshell Laptop or Cloud Book may be launched as competitor to Chrome Books.
