Microsoft has made release notes for the latest build Version 2002 (Build 12513.20010) of office for Windows desktop available now. The release notes reveal that Excel users can now see previews for mention & comment notification emails.

Optimize your time. Provide feedback on the go. When someone mentions you in a comment, you’ll receive an email notification that includes a link to the comment in the file. The email notification now shows you a preview of the text and comment thread associated with the comment. Respond to the comment directly from the email notification and your done. No need to open the file.
