Microsoft has recently rolled out a new firmware update to its Surface PCs. The firmware update was supposed to improve several connectivity issues.

However, it seems that the update, which was seeking to resolve the issue, backfires Microsoft by worsening the connectivity of some Surface PCs.

Users on Reddit have raised their voice over the issue saying that they are now unable to connect to the network after installing the latest Surface firmware udpate.

“I can’t connect to a 5GHz wifi connection, I can only connect to 2.4 GHz. when i try to connect to the 5GHz, it says: ‘Unable to connect to this network’,”a user wrote on Reddit. The user later found out that the issue was indeed caused by the Wi-Fi driver rolled out by Microsoft.

“Uninstalling the wifi driver, and restarting the device did help me get the 5GHz connection back to my Surface book, but when i decided to try to install the same driver again, and try to connect to 5GHz again, the same ‘Unable to connect to this network’ appears”

For those unaware, Microsoft recently rolled out Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. – Bluetooth – 15.68.17013.110, and Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. – Net – 15.68.17013.110 to all Surface devices.

Microsoft, however, hasn’t responded on the issues yet. But, it’s expected that we’ll soon get to hear something from the Windows-maker.
