Microsoft recently released monthly update KB5001330 to Windows 10 versions 2004 and 20H2. The update KB5001330 brings fixes for may windows components.

But the update is failing to install for some users with error codes 0x800f0984 ad 0x8007025d0. The issue may be widespread as is clear from many threads created in official Microsoft forum by users.

One user facing error 0x800f0984 writes,

from 0x800f081f to 0x800f0984 when updating Windows 10

Last 2 weeks I got  0x800f081f errors for KB Windows 21H1 insider updates.

KB5001330 now results in 0x800f0984

Please Microsoft do something about this. It is frustrating.

Another download error 0x8007025d0 was reported too.

Windows 10 Update Error “Download error – 0x8007025d0”.

To set the stage: the Windows 10 Pro 64bit I’m running is a free upgrade I got several years ago from Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit . I’ve been experiencing numerous BSODs recently with various stop codes so I decided to use the Windows Update Recovery “Keep My Files” Reset option to see if that would eliminate the BSODs. That process went cleanly so now I’m trying to bring the OS up to date. Now I’m getting the referenced error when installing the “2021-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64-based Systems (KB5001330)”.
