Microsoft has released two new Windows 11 Insider Preview builds for Beta Channel testers, giving Insiders another look at what’s coming next to the operating system.

The latest releases are Windows 11 Build 26220.9202 and Build 28020.2731 for Windows 11 version 26H1. Both builds are now rolling out through the Windows Insider Program Beta Channel.

The update gives testers an opportunity to try the latest Windows 11 changes and improvements before they become available more broadly.

Two Windows 11 Beta Builds Released

Microsoft is continuing to use the Beta Channel to test upcoming Windows 11 features, fixes, and platform improvements with a wider group of enthusiasts.

The newly released builds are:

  • Windows 11 Build 26220.9202
  • Windows 11 Build 28020.2731 (26H1)

While Build 26220.9202 targets the existing Windows 11 development track, Build 28020.2731 is part of the newer 26H1 branch, making it particularly interesting for Insiders following Microsoft’s longer-term Windows development plans.

What’s New in the Latest Builds?

Microsoft says these Beta Channel builds include the latest changes and improvements being tested with Windows Insiders. As usual, availability of individual features can vary depending on the device and Microsoft’s phased rollout strategy.

The Beta Channel is also where Microsoft can gather feedback before deciding which features and improvements should eventually reach stable Windows 11 releases.

For Insiders, that means these builds can provide an early glimpse at Microsoft’s current Windows development direction, although not every feature tested in the channel is guaranteed to ship to everyone.

Windows 11 26H1 Continues to Develop

The arrival of Build 28020.2731 is particularly notable because it belongs to Windows 11 26H1.

Microsoft has been testing the 26H1 branch separately from the more familiar Windows 11 release tracks. Insiders interested in the next generation of Windows 11 can therefore expect more experimental changes and platform-level testing as development continues.

The 26H1 build also highlights Microsoft’s ongoing effort to test future Windows releases well ahead of their broader availability.

How to Get the New Builds

Windows Insiders enrolled in the Beta Channel can check for the latest build through:

Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates

If your PC is eligible for the rollout, Windows Update should offer the appropriate Insider Preview build automatically.

Before installing any preview build, it is worth remembering that Insider releases are still under development. Users should expect occasional bugs, unfinished features, or compatibility issues.

A Look Ahead for Windows 11 Insiders

The release of 26220.9202 and 28020.2731 shows that Microsoft continues to actively develop multiple Windows 11 branches at the same time.

For Beta Channel testers, these builds offer another opportunity to explore upcoming changes and provide feedback that could influence future Windows releases.

As Microsoft publishes additional details, we can expect a clearer picture of what features from these builds will eventually make their way to the stable version of Windows 11.
