Microsoft recently released Windows 11 August update KB5017328 to PCs running Windows 11 version 21H2. The update brings new SMB compression, remote admin options & many fixes. But Windows 11 update KB5017328 is also causing BSOD and breaking audio for some of the users. It has also failed to download and install for many.

These issues have been reported at official Microsoft forum by many Windows 11 users.

Fails to download & install for many:

Users have reported 1, 2, 3 that the update KB5017328 fails to download and install for many.

Trying to install this update – 2022-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5017328) – will not install – device is missing important updates.

I have been trying to install this windows 11 update – as requested by Microsoft.

“2022-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5017328)”

It downloads and then starts to install – gets hung up at 69% but eventually makes it to 100%.

And then i get this.

“Some update files are missing or have problems. We’ll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x8007000d)”

I have tried several times over the last few days but the same result.

Any help would be appreciated.

Another Cumulative upgrade stuck in my Windows Update

After months receiving information that Windows Update was unable to install all Cumulative upgrade files, I’m again stuck for 3 days with the KB5017328 Cumulative upgrade failing to install.

I’m so tired of this. I’ve tried all Microsoft Community’s moderators instructions to no benefit. And I refuse to reinstall all Windows 11 just because of a ONE file!

By the way, ALL other type of files got installed with not a single problem. So, why these specific “cumulative actualization” files are the sole ones with such problematic issues??

Please, PLEASE, Microsoft need to address the constant problem with Windows Update.

Black screen & Audio issues:

The update KB5017328 is causing Black Screen and Audio issues, report users.

KB5017328 causes blank screen after logon

Installing KB5017328 causes a blank screen after user logon. The only way I resolved was to remove KB5017328.

At the blank screen I was able to start Task Manager and logon as Administrator successfully where I proceeded

to remove KB5017328. Why it only blanks the screen(after logon) on my user-id is a mystery. Any one else?

No Audio in Apps after Update KB5017328

My system (Windows 11) installed update KB5017328 last night, and since then my computer does not play audio in Zoom, Firefox, or Edge. There seem to be no issues with the audio drivers, and when I test the audio, I can hear the beep. It seems to be a problem with audio being played by specific apps. This is extremely frustrating as I really need to be able to use Zoom for work. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
