Xbox is giving Insiders another round of useful console improvements, with the latest update focused on customization, faster navigation, better Remote Play, cloud gaming, and clearer party chat.
The new features are rolling out to Xbox Insiders starting September 9, giving testers more control over how their consoles look and work while also making it easier to get back into games and connect with friends.
According to Xbox, the goal is simple: spend less time navigating menus and more time playing.
Choose Your Favorite Xbox Startup Animation
One of the more fun additions lets players decide which Xbox startup animation appears when they turn on their console.
Insiders can now choose from startup animations representing different Xbox generations, allowing players to bring back the look and feel of an earlier Xbox era.
The option is available under Settings > System > Startup, where players can also choose whether the startup animation plays with sound.
It’s a small change, but one that makes the console feel a little more personal.
Show Off Up to Five Profile Badges
Xbox is also expanding profile customization.
Insiders can now select up to five earned badges to feature on their profile card. Players can also hide individual badges from their public profile.
This gives players more control over how their achievements and Xbox identity are presented to others.
Xbox Adds Local Search for Games and Achievements
Finding something inside a large Xbox library should become much easier.
A new local search feature lets Insiders quickly search for specific games and achievements instead of scrolling through lengthy lists.
The search works in My games & apps, official club achievement lists, and profile achievement history. It also works alongside existing filters and sorting options.
For players with large game libraries or years of achievement history, this could become one of the most useful additions in the update.
Xbox Remote Play Gets a Quality Boost
Xbox is also improving Remote Play for supported Insiders.
Xbox Series X|S users enrolled in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings can test higher-quality Remote Play streaming with support for resolutions of up to 1440p, along with higher video bitrates.
The result should be sharper visuals and smoother gameplay on supported devices, including PCs, phones and TVs.
Xbox also recommends setting the console’s display resolution to 1440p or 4K UHD under Settings > General > TV & display options to take advantage of the improvements.
Downloads Can Continue While You Play in the Cloud
Another useful change targets one of the biggest frustrations with digital gaming: waiting for downloads.
Xbox Insiders can now continue downloading or updating a game in the background while streaming a game through Xbox Cloud Gaming, when network conditions allow it.
The feature builds on testing that began in June and should be particularly helpful for Xbox Series X|S players who want to start playing immediately rather than waiting for another game to finish installing.
The setting can be managed under Settings > Cloud gaming > Streaming preferences.
Voice Clarity Makes Party Chat Easier to Hear
Xbox is also testing Voice Clarity on Xbox Series X|S.
The feature is designed to reduce everyday background noise, helping players hear friends and teammates more clearly during party chat and supported games.
Voice Clarity will be enabled by default in party chat and in most games released since 2020. Players can manage it through Settings > General > Volume & audio output > Additional options.
For anyone who regularly plays multiplayer games with friends, this could make conversations noticeably easier in noisy environments.
Xbox Is Also Testing Party Improvements
Behind the scenes, Xbox Insiders are being asked to test changes designed to improve the reliability and security of Xbox parties.
Unlike some of the more visible features in this update, these changes happen largely in the background. Xbox is encouraging Insiders to report anything unusual during testing so the company can refine the experience before wider availability.
