A now removed entry in official documentation has all but confirmed that Microsoft is ditching Windows 10 moniker in support of Windows Sun Valley. While the “Windows Sun Valley” is the name that appeared in the documentation before it was edited by Microsoft, many reports suggest that Microsoft will launch it as Windows 11 on June 24.

Two more codenames related to the Windows next aka Windows Sun Valley are doing rounds online. It seems “Cherry Hill” is the codename for experience packages that Windows 11 will bring. So, Cherry Hill File explorer, store and other apps will be part of the experience packages meant for Windows 11.

There is one more name “Fire Steel” which seems to be the codename for internal tools in Windows 11. So, Sun Valley (UI changes), Cherry Hill (Apps redesign) and Fire Steel (Internal tools redesign) combined may signify the overall Windows 11 experience.

Recently we posted about some recent official Microsoft document modifications that revealed that the 21H2 aka Sun Valley update may belong to the “Cobalt” branch. So, probably the Cobalt branch is being primed for future insider build releases.
