At Build 2017, Microsoft has announced a load of different opportunities and features for to take advantage of by the developers. The three keys areas of interest are updates to the Microsoft Teams developer platform, new capabilities in the Microsoft Graph and better ways to connect Office users with partner integrations.

Office 365 has over a 100 million monthly commercial active users, which makes it the largest productivity service available to date. Combined with business-critical data, it unlocks incredible new opportunities for developers.

Let’s take a brief look at three key areas:

Deliver Microsoft Teams apps through the Office Store

Starting today, any developer can publish apps for Microsoft Teams through the Office Store onboarding and distribution process. These apps will be categorized into a new discover apps experience space, making it easier for users to find and use apps within Teams. However, this new feature is currently available in the Developer Preview and will be released to all, soon.

New capabilities in the Microsoft Graph to build intelligent business processes and apps

  • Today, the SharePoint site, OneNote and Planner data APIs are generally available and are ready for developers to be able to use in production.
  • Microsoft is also announcing new Insights APIs, as well as expanding the library of webhooks, in preview, which includes user and group changes.
  • Two new core capabilities of Microsoft Graph generally available. Delta queries and Custom data.
  • Also, announced an offer for Microsoft Azure ISV customers that enables them to directly provide new PowerApps and Flow Connectors to the broad audience of Office 365 customers.
  • Microsoft is rolling out Actionable Messages to more Office 365 users in Microsoft Teams as well as in Outlook 2016 for Windows (in Insider Fast), with new integrations from Salesforce, Freshdesk, Wrike and more.
  • Developers can use new Actionable Message tools for developers to build Actionable Messages for Outlook and Teams. Learn more.

New ways to connect Office users with the partner integrations that matter to them

  • The Office Store is now connected to Microsoft AppSource, making it easier for organizations to find the most relevant apps and add-ins to their work.
  • Centralized deployment of Office add-ins is currently available in preview, with general availability coming soon.
  • Centralized deployment is supported on Office for Mac and Office Online, allowing developers to deploy add-ins from the Office Store as well as via a set of deployment scripts.
