Archive

Instagram is introducing a new feature for its users on Android, iOS and soon to be available on Windows 10, called Archive. With Archive feature, you as an Instagram user would be able to hide/unhide pictures from your followers and move it to private space/folder called “Archived Posts”.

This will give you more flexibility to clean junk or embarrassing posts (if any) on your profile while still preserving moments that matter.

Here’s how to archive a post or picture from the profile

  • Open the Instagram app and tap on the profile icon.
  • To archive a post you’ve already shared, tap  (options) at the top of the post and choose Archive.
  • That’s it, you are done. That photo/image will no longer be visible to your followers.

To get to your archived or hidden posts, tap on the NEW Archive icon in the top right corner of your profile.  All those photos you archive will retain the previous likes and comments from friends.

If you change your mind in the future, or if you are just tinkering with the feature, tap on the post and then tap Show on Profile at any time and it’ll show up in its original spot.

To learn more about Archive, visit the Instagram Help Center.

These updates are available as part of Instagram version 10.21 and above for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.
