Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone is shaping up to be more than just another yearly upgrade. New information from Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS) has revealed early display specifications for the rumored 2027 iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max, along with details about the radical design Apple is reportedly testing.
According to the leak, Apple is evaluating a 6.41-inch display with a 2686 × 1236 resolution for the iPhone 20 Pro. The larger iPhone 20 Pro Max is reportedly being tested with a 6.96-inch panel offering a 2912 × 1340 resolution.
The numbers suggest that Apple could make both Pro models slightly larger than the current generation while simultaneously reducing the amount of visible bezel around the screen.
iPhone 20 Pro could get a 6.41-inch display
The reported 6.41-inch screen would represent a modest increase over the 6.3-inch display used on the iPhone 17 Pro.
The iPhone 20 Pro Max, meanwhile, could move from the current 6.9-inch class to a 6.96-inch panel. That is close enough to 7 inches that Apple could potentially market the larger model around a 7-inch display if the specification makes it into the final product.
Previous reports have also pointed toward Apple testing displays around 6.4 and 7 inches for its 2027 anniversary iPhone.

The bigger story, however, isn’t the small increase in screen size.
A quad-curved, nearly borderless display
DCS reportedly says Apple is testing a four-sided curved display, with the glass curving around all four edges of the device.
That would represent a significant departure from the flat display design Apple has used across recent iPhone generations.
The goal appears to be creating a phone that looks much closer to a single slab of glass, with the borders becoming extremely difficult to see. Other reports have also described Apple’s 2027 anniversary iPhone as featuring a micro-curved OLED panel with very shallow curves rather than the more aggressive curved displays seen on some older Android phones.
Apple is reportedly experimenting with optical techniques alongside the curved glass to make the edges visually disappear. That could allow the company to create a borderless appearance without relying on an extremely deep curve.
The Dynamic Island could become much smaller
The front of the iPhone 20 Pro could also look very different.
According to the latest leak, Apple is testing a tiny punch-hole-style cutout on the front. That would make the current Dynamic Island look significantly smaller.
Apple’s long-term goal has reportedly been to move more of the Face ID hardware underneath the display. However, reports have disagreed about whether Apple will be able to achieve a completely cutout-free screen by 2027.
Some reports suggest that a small hole-punch could remain if the under-display camera technology isn’t ready in time.
That means the 2027 iPhone could potentially sit somewhere between today’s Dynamic Island and Apple’s eventual goal of a completely uninterrupted display.
Apple could skip the iPhone 19 name
Another interesting part of the leak concerns Apple’s naming strategy.
DCS reportedly claims that Apple may skip the iPhone 19 branding and move directly from the iPhone 18 generation to the iPhone 20 series in 2027, aligning the name with the iPhone’s 20th anniversary.
That would mirror Apple’s decision to skip the iPhone 9 and introduce the iPhone X alongside the iPhone 8 in 2017.
However, Apple has not confirmed the name of its 2027 iPhones, so “iPhone 20” should still be treated as a rumored designation.
The biggest iPhone redesign since the iPhone X?
Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone has been surrounded by reports of a major design overhaul for months. Beyond the display, rumors have pointed toward an all-glass aesthetic, slimmer borders, possible solid-state haptic buttons and other changes designed to make the phone feel more like a seamless piece of glass.
The display information adds another interesting piece to that picture.
Rather than simply making the screen dramatically larger, Apple could be using curved edges and much smaller borders to increase the usable display area without making the phone substantially larger.
That could be particularly noticeable on the Pro Max, where the reported 6.96-inch panel would push the iPhone close to the 7-inch mark.
But don’t treat these specifications as final
There is an important caveat: these are early testing details, not confirmed retail specifications.
Apple’s 2027 iPhones are still well ahead of their expected launch window, and prototype hardware can change considerably before mass production. Display sizes, resolutions, aspect ratios and even the overall design could still be modified.
Still, the latest leak fits with several earlier reports describing Apple’s plans for a major 20th-anniversary redesign.
If Apple eventually delivers the rumored quad-curved display and dramatically reduced front cutout, the iPhone 20 Pro could look substantially different from today’s iPhone — even if the actual screen-size increase is relatively small.
