Latest evidences sourced from the Microsoft update catalog reveal something quite interesting. Microsoft may call Spring Creators update as only “April update” and it may come as Version 1804 and not version 1803. Check the screenshots below.

While the above screenshot just mentions Windows 10 version 1804, the below screenshot also mentions that name “April update” along with the version number.

When Microsoft delayed the launch of Spring Creators update due to issues in the RTM Build 17133, it was clear that it will not be released before May. Now, since the RTM candidate Build 17134 has been tested in April and may get a release in May, version 1804 doesn’t look surprising.

The April update name is however surprising and reveals a new future update naming strategy to be adopted by Microsoft. It is debatable however whether is for better or worse.
