Karbonn-K-Phone-1_2Indian mobile phone manufacturer, Karbonn has revealed to leading daily TOI that its Dual-OS smartphones, which will be able to run both Windows Phone and Android are coming by June this year. As reported in the article, Karbonn has signed an agreement with Microsoft to put Windows Phone OS on its existing Android hardware.

According to company’s chairman Sudhir Hasija,

“Microsoft has eased the regulations and is opening up its platform for other players. We signed the agreement two days ago and will launch a range of Windows phones in about three months,” Hasija said. The dual-OS phones will be out by June, and will target office-going professionals and ‘techies’, he said. The company is yet to zero in on the price range.

While we have earlier heard rumors about Microsoft considering strategy of Dual-OS smartphones to push Windows Phone as an alternative to Android, this may be the first example of this strategy taking shape.
