Microsoft has pulled the security update KB4524244 after users reported multiple issues post installation of this update along with KB4532693. In the updated KB article Microsoft notes,
This standalone security update has been removed due to an issue affecting a sub-set of devices. It will not be re-offered from Windows Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Update Catalog. Note Removal of this standalone security update does not affect successful installation or any changes within any other February 11, 2020 security updates, including Latest Cumulative Update (LCU), Monthly Rollup or Security Only update.
But even more issues have been reported by the users who installed or tried to install the KB4532693 update.
For some it has ushered in disappearence of files and issue with login and it seems to be a wideapread issue. It seems that the update messes up existing user profile and opens a temporary account.
One user reported about his PC stuck in a random shutdown and restart loop after the update got installed automatically on his PC. The issue reoccured even after uninstalling the update as it was installed again.
Users are reporting that the update is not installing and some are getting error 0x8007025d.
For some the update installation was not moving beyond 20% and they reported a Windows update error 0x8e5e0147, while some were stuck at 0%.
Another user reported about facing the error 0x800f0831 after the implementation of update KB4532693. One user reported that the update downlaod remained pending for him even after trying to get rid of it.
