Lenovo Mix 720 is the Surface Pro 4 successor Microsoft didn’t launch


Microsoft launched Surface Book 2016 during its October event and it didn’t even feature “Kaby Lake”, the latest processors from Intel. It didn’t launch anything for those waiting for a Surface Pro 4 successor. But Lenovo wishes to cheers you where Microsoft has failed in doing so. Lenovo Mix 720 has leaked revealing its specs and design and it is quite impressive.

Specs & Features:

It will feature Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 from the new “Kaby Lake” processors family. The Lenovo Miix 720-12IKB has a 12 inches, 3: 2 format display with 2880×1920 pixels that surpasses the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 display in PPI. Lenovo Mix 720 display will have brightness up to 400 nits and will boast of Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection.

The new Lenovo tablet also supports stylus with 2048 printing stages, which makes it suitable for handwriting input and drawings. It will also feature a keyboard cover in the style of the surface type cover with Lenovo keyboard and an integrated backlight.


Lenovo equips the Miix 720 also with a fold out stand on the back of which is held by the company’s own Watch Band hinge and can be characterized in any desired angles. On the front, above the display, is a 1-megapixel webcam that captures images in the infrared area and thus can be used in conjunction with Windows Hello for comfortable unlocking of the tablet.

The Lenovo Miix 720 is powered by ac-WLAN in dual-band mode or via Bluetooth 4.1, although it is still open whether there will be an LTE-capable output again. Added to this is a 5-megapixel camera and two Dolby-certified speakers in combination with two microphones, which are suitable for the use of Cortana.

The Miix 720 has a 41-watt battery with 5319mAh, which should be sufficient for a running time of up to eight hours – for comparison: the Surface Pro 4 has to do with 38 watt hours. With 780 grams, the device with its aluminum housing moves at a level customary in its class, while the overall height is indicated with 8.9 millimeters. If you want to take the keyboard cover, the weight increases to 1.1 kilograms, while the thickness of the total package increases to 14.6 millimeters.

Processors & Memory Details:

Intel Core i3-7100U comes with 2.4 gigahertz, the Intel Core i5-7200U with 2.5 GHz base clock and 3.1 GHz by Turbo or the Intel Core i7-7500U with 2.7 GHz base clock and if necessary up To 3.5 GHz TurboBoost is used. Depending on the model, four, eight or even 16 gigabytes of memory are offered, while the customer can choose between models with 128, 256 or 512 GB or a terabyte memory space for the SSDs. In all cases, these are fast PCIe SSDs, which offer tremendous transfer rates.

Price & Release Date:

Release Date for Lenovo Mix 720 is not known yet. It may be priced lower than Surface Pro 4’s launch pricing.
