Microsoft started to showing banner ads in the Windows 10 Mail app. The company is yet to roll out the change to public and currently testing it with Insiders in the Fast Ring. The new version 11605.11029.20059.0 is now up for grab on the Microsoft Store for Windows Insiders. Interestingly, those having an O365 subscription has been exempted from showing ads.
Prior to this, famous chat messenger WhatsApp also announced that it is going to display ads in the coming days within the messenger. While WhatsApp is still figuring out the way, Microsoft has already come up with the solution and it is now showing ads in the Others section right beside the Focussed Inbox. The software giant also encourages users to go ad-free with a prompt saying ‘Go ad-free with Office 365’.
This could well be just for testing and might not make it to the public as the company has previously done that.
