MWC 2017: Samsung announces the Galaxy Book 2-in-1 tablet PC based on Windows 10

At the 2017 Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona, Samsung in its very own space announced the refreshed new Windows 10 2-in-1 device, the Galaxy Book.

Samsung’s Galaxy Book offers full Windows 10 PC experience just as you would expect plus the additional enhancement of Samsung S Pen, which will in turn maximise your productivity with its advance multi-function features.

Design

The device will be available in 10.6- and 12-inch variations and features a premium, full-metal design that’s thin and lightweight. This is what makes the device highly portable.

Samsung has chosen either black or white as color and the included keyboard cover is a delight to work with, and comes complete with a large touchpad that offers plenty of room to comfortably work through files or tabs.

Since the Galaxy Book is a 2-in-1 device, you can pull up the screen and set it in any of the three orientation modes – ‘PC’, ‘Easel’ and ‘Note’ to deliver optimal comfort and usability.

Performance

Both the Galaxy Book variants are fuelled by latest 7th Gen Intel® Core™ processors that provide premium, PC-level performance.

  • 10.6-inch edition comes equipped with 4GB of RAM and a choice of 64GB or 128GB of storage
  • 12-inch model is available in a choice of either 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, or a generous 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage capacity.
  • Both models allow users to add additional storage via microSD card.

Display

While Samsung has chosen the super AMOLED display for the 12-inch Galaxy Book edition, the 10.6-inch edition has only a TFT screen. Both the variants support 4K video playback, however.

Battery Life

Both the editions provide fast charging support, so you get long-lasting batteries providing up to 10 hours of power for the 10.6-inch model and up to 10.5 hours for the 12-inch.

Refined Samsung S Pen

The new and refined Samsung S Pen offers best-in-class digital writing experience that allows you to enjoy greater productivity while displaying your creative side. The Galaxy Book’s S Pen is the most accurate yet with a 0.7mm tip and recognizes 4,096 levels of pressure thus enhancing sensitivity.

It is battery free and has the ability to vary the thickness of its strokes depending on the angle at which it’s tilted, is particularly handy when fine-tuning images with the professional software like Adobe Photoshop.

Connectivity

Both Galaxy Book models are additionally available in LTE-compatible versions.
