Surface Pro 4 reportedly receiving a new firmware update (Full Changelog)

0

Microsoft is releasing a new firmware for those using Surface Pro 4 2-in-1 device. This is the second update in July 2017, with the first received earlier this month. These updates are usually provided via the Windows Update service, and are delivered in stages to Surface customers. So, if the update is not available on your machine now, don’t worry, it should be available in the coming days.

In case not, please manually check Windows Update later.

For the current release, Microsoft has yet to provide an official changelog on the website, but according to attached update release notes, Surface Pro 4 owners should see a Power Control slider in the taskbar area, given they are running the Windows 10 Creators Update. On clicking the battery icon, Power Control slider can be seen in the fly out, which will let you change the power mode on your device, quickly.

For example, users can switch between balanced, battery saving or performance mode by moving the slider to the right or left, right from the battery tray which is quite handy.

The new firmware also includes driver updates for the Surface UEFI, Pen Pairing, and the Management Engine, along with updates for the Surface Accessory Device.

Here’s the full list of changes/improvements:

  • Surface driver update for Surface Management Engine
  • Surface driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware
  • Surface driver update for Surface UEFI
  • Surface driver update for Surface Pen Pairing
  • Microsoft driver update for Surface Accessory Device
