AdDuplex has published the market share of various version of Windows 10 and it is not at all good news for the recently released Windows 10 October 2018 Update. If we go by the stats, the recently released Windows 10 update is witnessing the slowest growth if we compare it with the other versions of the operating system during their early days.
According to AdDuplex Windows 10 October 2018 update now holds only 6.6 percent of all version Windows 10, up from 2.8 percent while the previous update goes down to 83.6 percent from 89.5 percent. Its predecessor, the 1709 and 1703 both manages to gain some share according to the data published. The former witnessed almost two percent increment, closing at 5.7 percent from 3.9 percent and the latter went up from 1.5 percent to 1.8 percent.
Windows 10 version 1511 also went up though merely 0.1 percent, from 0.4 percent to 0.5 percent while the Anniversary Update and the Original version of Windows 10 are still at 1.4 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.
As you can see the adoption of the latest update has been slow and the reason behind the slow start is nothing but Microsoft’s mismanagement with the Windows 10 October 2018 Update which soon after its release deleted users data from their PCs. The company had to press a pause button in order to prevent the update from further damaging any PCs. It took one month to resolve the notorious bug and it again went live in the last month.
While the Redmond giant is paying for their mistakes in the on the software side, its premium hardware, Surface is doing pretty good especially the recently launched Surface Go which went up from 7.25 percent to 12.3 percent in course of just one month. The Surface Pro 4 still dominates the chart.
However, reports like these never give you the exact figure as it is based on some rough estimation. AdDupplex for example, have their own SDK which many Windows store application uses which in turn sheds some light on the market share of various versions of Windows 10 and also on devices like Surface.
