On February 28 I installed optional update KB4535996 on my PC. Since then the boot time is taking way longer than originally.
My PC is Acer desktop with Intel Core i5 6400. The machine is with Windows 10 Home 1909. I tried to uninstall 4535996 but the system is not allowing me to do so.
After the latest installation of the last Windows 10 update (1909), KB4535996, I think, my Dell laptop will not start normally at all. None of the automatic repairs would work, because of an indication that my D:/ drive could not be found or somesuch.
One user started facing freezing issue on his PC after installing the update KB4535996.
On the initial download and install my PC hung at 100% for 5 – 10 mins. Afterwards it hung on the welcome screen after restarts. I recovered the PC by running startup recovery in WinRE, it removed the update. I tried again to install it with the same result. I ran sfc/scannow after both attempts, it found and repaired a few things.
Microsoft is yet to acknowledge any issue with the update KB4535996 and we will let you know once Microsoft releases an official statement.
