There were people doubting the Microsoft’s deal with Amazon which promised a single platform for users to take advantage of both the virtual assistant Cortana and Alexa. Putting all the speculation to rest, at Build 2018 Microsoft finally with Amazon showed us a demo and talked about the progress they made on the project.
Starting from today People with Echo devices in the USA can access ask Cortana to manage their calendars. All you need to do is to ask Alexa to ‘Open Cortana’ and Cortana is ready to serve and to do the reverse you need to say ‘Open Alexa’ on devices powered by Cortana such as Harman Kardon Invoke.
“Cortana users will be able to have Alexa shop on Amazon.com and manage their Amazon orders and access many of Alexa’s third-party skills by asking Cortana to open Alexa, just as Alexa users will have access to Cortana’s world knowledge and helpful productivity features such as calendar management, day at a glance and location-based reminders simply by asking Alexa to open Cortana,” – Microsoft Spokesperson
