Microsoft has now made the stable version of Chromium Edge browser available for Windows 10, 7, 8, 8.1 and macOS. If you are on iOS and Android you already are using the Chromium Edge browser and don’t need to do anything.
While the browser will be avaiilable to install and replace the old Edge browser via the automatic update, it will follow a phased roll-out approach as enumerated by Microsoft in its official blog post.
If you’d prefer not to install Microsoft Edge manually, you can wait for it to be installed in a future update to Windows 10, following our measured roll-out approach over the next several months. We will startto migrate Windows 10 customersto the new Microsoft Edge in the coming weeks, starting with a subset of Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring.Â
If you can’t wait for the update to being Chromiun Edge and want to have a taste of it immediately you can simply go ahead and install it. Click on the link provided below to go to the official download page and then select your OS to get the installable file.
Once installed it simply replaces the old Edge browser and you may need to install additional updates in some cases.
When you install Microsoft Edge on an up-to-date Windows 10 device, it will replace the previous (legacy) version on your device. In some cases, you may be prompted to install additional updates. Your favorites, passwords, and basic settings will carry over to the new Microsoft Edge automatically. Web apps (including those built on EdgeHTML), and Microsoft Edge preview channels (such as Dev or Canary) will continue to work without interruption. Â
