Microsoft Edge Dev Update


Microsoft has introduced another must-have and handy feature right inside the Microsoft Edge browser – the web capture.

Available to Dev and Canary, web capture allows users to capture the content displayed on the webpage and save it as an image locally on a computer for later use.

How to use web capture in Microsoft Edge

  1. Got to Settings and more menu () in the top right corner of the browser and select Web capture.
  2. Once activated, use the selection tool to capture just the content you want by clicking and dragging the mouse across the screen.
  3. To capture content that is below the viewable area of the screen, just hold down the selection tool and drag to the bottom of the page.
  4. Once you are done, a popup will be displayed with two options: copy and preview. Click Copy to add the image to your clipboard. The Preview will show you a preview of the content you selected and provide options to share or save it locally.

Quick Tip

You can also pin the feature to toolbar area. To do this, right click on the option in the Settings and select Show in toolbar.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+S) to invoke web capture.

In the near future, Microsoft will be adding more functionalities to web capture, like adding ink or highlights to your captures, capturing full webpages, and scrolling while marking them.
