Microsoft claims to have entered next phase of Windows 10 version 2004 rollout in an update posted on its official version 2004 page. It will now push Windows 10 May 2020 update to even more Windows 10 devices with OS versions reaching the end of service.

The users running up to Windows 10 version 1809 which is not supported officially anymore may see their PC updating to version 2004 without them triggering it. Microsoft claims that it is using machine learning to choose and update such devices.

This is the update that Microsoft has posted on July 22 regarding expanding Windows 10 version 2004 availability.

Current status as of July 22, 2020
Windows 10, version 2004 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and 1909, who manually seek to “Check for updates” via Windows Update. We are now starting a new phase in our rollout. Using the machine learning-based (ML-based) training we have done so far, we are increasing the number of devices selected to update automatically to Windows 10, version 2004 that are approaching end of service. We will continue to train our machine learning through all phases to intelligently rollout new versions of Windows 10 and deliver a smooth update experience. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel.

Microsoft had however started forcing Windows 10 version 2004 on such devices starting June 16. The version 2004 update is a major feature update and brings many new features, changes, and improvements.
